Grow With Love

I picked Watering my Garden digi from Soft Pencil Studios because this activity in Summer is so very relaxing for me and one of my all time favourite things to do at home! I used my Retro Flower Punch in two sizes to create my own flowers and they tone in nicely with my colour scheme.

Sweet as Cherry Pie

This image reminds me of my girlfriend Tracey who makes amazing meals and especially desserts, so when I saw this image called Dotti Baking from Bugaboo Stamps I had to have it! I decided to make my own sentiment on the computer and I’m very pleased how it turned out.  I used my White Gel Pen to add tiny white dots to her dress and dimensional adhesive to really lift the pie…it’s making me hungry talking about it!  I managed to find some paper in my stash that has cherry’s and I’m committed to using what I’ve got and as I explore my stash I definitely have more than I thought! I used my button die to get the perfect colour for my buttons!

Baby Girl Card

I adore this cute little baby girl in her pram that I picked out at Pink Gem Designs and I just couldn’t wait to colour it in! I always enjoyed dressing my daughter when she was a baby in pretty pink clothes…and still do. Just for a bit of fun I used stickers for a change to embellish my card, and I have thrown a rattle out of the pram in fond memories of my my kids!!! I couldn’t tell you how many times we came home after a day at the shops pushing my pram around and arriving home with baby with just one sock or shoe or missing toys! I did a bit of faux stitching and used acetate to create a bit of a see thru section. I got to use my new Die-namics Flower Border both inside and outside my card and I used glitter glue in the centers. I cut the baby head and bib out and added this as a dimensional layer. I cut my Valerian Flourish Memory Box die cut into three pieces and arranged it to create a Cinderella carriage feel.

Margarita

I made this card for my sister Margaret who is having her 60th Birthday. I wanted to create something she would like and as she has always enjoyed parties, I felt she would love this image of a Margarita that I picked out at Oak Pond Creations. It’s also a play on her name, so I split the name so she gets the fun side of what I have created and she can clearly see what she is affectionately known as - Marg. I used my Provo Craft Circa 12pts stamp to create the word ..MARGARITA, it's one of the first stamps I ever bought and hardly use ..we all have a few things we buy with good intentions and then forget we own them. I'm on a mission to resort my craft area...so I can find things better and put the stuff I use all the time at the front. I'm one of those messy arty types, and even I can't believe how much stuff I need out to make just one card. All tips or links greatly appreciated!July 2012 Sport Carnival & Cards 084

Rainbow Thank You Card

I chose this image from the silhouette range of images from Bugaboo stamps because I could visualize a rainbow as the background and it’s just an amazing piece of art and it was the perfect image for a rainbow theme. When I went to pick up my Copics to start colouring a rainbow I couldn't remember what order the colours went in and had to look it up. Here is the order  for a Rainbow….Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet if you are like me and not sure of the exact order. I wanted a darker background at the top  to pop the focal point forward and really frame this rainbow and used dimensional adhesive to add even more dimension. I chose a ribbon that picked up all the colours I used in my cardstock. I used Dimensional Magic to add  a 3d effect and it really made a difference especially for my hummingbird! I used my Butterfly embossing folder so it adds another natural element both on the front and the inside of my card. I made this card for my daughters hair dresser and wig lady to thank her for everything she has done and the wonderful friendship they formed.. Altogether  my daughter has used over 50 cards to thank everybody the whole cast and crew after a great show working together in Annie the Musical from Brisbane, it’s been an experience of a lifetime! My girlfriend Vicki and I made this construction style card together and thank goodness for the telescoping card instructions, but like anything it’s easy when you know how!!!It swivels open using the brads, clever design, and I had a lot of fun making it. Bugaboo Stamps Stella Nursing Hospital Food Get Well Card

This week I used my new Bugaboo Stamps image called Stella Nursing- Hospital Food and it really brought a smile to my face the minute I laid eyes on her, so I knew it was the perfect card to make this week for something bright and colourful to give to my sick friend. It will be great to look at…. and she will be able to  feel the love even if I’m not there with her. I added these flowers with a set of punches I forgot I had and ran a few through my embossing folder to add some depth and texture to the flowers.Card Crafter's Circle 6 January 2011 002

hAnglar stAnglar Christmas Card with Snow

My perfect holiday involves snow and I really enjoyed making this card with snow. My daughter recently commented on my stamp collection and said  “if I really want to enjoy my colouring in, I‘ve got to get some images I really want to colour in”, so I have recently added some new stuff to my collection that visually appeals to me and I got myself some Copics so I can really enjoy myself. The Copics are really my Christmas present early so I will have to wrap them up and put them under the tree on Christmas Eve. I added a railing behind as her background to set the scene and coloured with Copics and added a thick layer of snow(Ice Stickles) because that’s just how it sits on the fence, when it really snows. I love this embossing folder because it looks like swirling snow , yet still pretty and feminine like the soft subtle curves of fresh flowers, and I slightly distressed the edges to add some interest like the way the snow plough clears a slightly uneven path. I used my new Martha Stewart Snowflake Border Punch which was a wonderful find at the recent craft fair. I added the white stars and snowflakes to finish off the card, and to add a (Ice Stickles Glitter Glue)shimmer of blue and coldness to the card to help set the scene. I love these pastel non traditional colours I used in this card with some inspiration from the Shabby Tearoom.

On a personal note my Golden Retriever ‘Honey’ had a dog version of a stroke on Sunday afternoon and poor Honey is at the Veterinary Specialist Centre with hope for rehabilitation, only time will tell. Here is the technical stuff off the internet. In Honey’s case it’s one rear leg. I’m spending as much time as I can at the hospital with her as possible, and went twice yesterday. It’s such a shock to see her so unwell, she is only 7.5yrs old and the words spinal injury are never words you want to hear. She was just playing on the grass when it happened casually sniffing around and then yelped about 20 times, just like that… fine one minute and her life changed the next.

Fibrocartilaginous Embolism. In this condition, a small amount of disc material ruptures and gets into one of the blood vessels leading to the spinal cord. As the vessel narrows, the disc material obstructs it, depriving a certain segment of the spinal cord of its blood supply. Without proper blood supply, that segment of the spinal cord dies, resulting in paralysis. Surgery will not help these dogs because there is no pressure on the spinal cord. Often, paralysis involves only one rear leg, or one rear leg is more severely affected than the other. Complete recovery may occur in a few days to weeks, or there may be permanent damage to a portion of the spinal cord. Diagnosis of fibrocartilaginous embolism is based on the correct clinical signs and a normal myelogram. Definitive diagnosis can only be made after death by performing a spinal cord biopsy.

Keeping positive is essential!

hAnglar stAnglar Christmas Card

In an effort to be prepared for Xmas I made this Christmas card for one of my son’s teachers. I wanted to use non traditional colours and decided on pink and green. I’m in the process of mastering the fine art of colouring using Copics and it’s harder than it looks, I thought I was an expert when I was 8yrs old at colouring ! This is the first time I’ve used this image and it’s kind of weird for us Australian card makers to make wintery Christmas Cards as it’s the hottest time of the year for us ,so the thought of be rugged up makes me hot.. so I popped a butterfly,a park bench and some greenery behind my hAnglar  stAnglar Christmas girl and sat her in her own field of pretty pink  flowers. I’d love to have a white Christmas once in this lifetime and for the meantime I have white flower brads instead of snowflakes to embellish my card and it’s hard to see by this photo I added sparkly glitter on the flowers and the fluffy white sections of her coat and hat and it was just the extra touch this card needed!Cards November 2011 002

Magnolia Singing Tilda

Anita's 11th Birthday October 2011 057

Anita's 11th Birthday October 2011 059

I really enjoyed making this card for my daughters birthday, she loves to sing and my girlfriend Vicki Fraser bought this Magnolia Tilda Singing stamp for me so I could make my darling daughter the perfect birthday card. I paper pieced Singing Tilda to get the dress just the right colour and shaped it to give it a slight curve using my flower tool, before gluing into position.  I chose a designer paper that my wonderful friend Frances from Stamp Owl gave me for Tilda’s dress to match the dress my daughter wears on stage that shimmers and sparkles. I used a purple gel pen and highlighted with Ice Stickles Glitter Glue to finish.I wanted to use some shading behind and used my Spellbinder Circle as a mask to get the white edge effect with my Sponging Block and Colorbox Chalk Ink. Then I used the Tim Holtz Alterations Carnivale to personalise the card and add her age using some new Glitter Cardstock. I wanted an unusual shape card  and placed Tilda looking down from the top of the card like my daughter does when she’s on stage.

Party Animal

I love this new paper design by Kaisercraft called Party Animals. It’s a different style of card making for me as I’d normally class myself as a stamper, but I'm here to try all new things and experiment and recreate a new style for myself. This year I’m challenging myself in as many new things as possible. He’s such a happy and cute bear, he’s adorable!

Be Happy

It’s school holiday’s and here is another card my daughter and I made together. I love this new embossing folder I picked up at JAM Creations in South Tweed Heads for $8. We used the glitter liberally and discovered this super fine glitter is also transparent allowing the coloured area inside the pink ears to be accentuated. You will definitely be seeing more glitter experiments here. I also had the opportunity to teach my daughter paper piercing and she did a great job, very even. It’s great girly time making cards together with my daughter, especially when the boys (hubby & son) are watching soccer on TV.
Hubby and son put on a Soccer Carnival for the under 12’s at Broadbeach Soccer Club on Wednesday and daughter went in it as she was there anyway as I was office girl and ball collector for the day . She was the only girl and at the end they had a series of 6 games where you swap teams and gain individual points based on the scores anyway guess who won …yes my daughter… and she’s only ever played two games this year as she decided to do Soccer as her school sport, she obviously has been paying more attention to the rules of play and positioning than any of us thought. This was slightly awkward as your own kid shouldn’t win a carnival you put on and so we gave out 4 prizes to the other  place getter and will have to work out some thing else for little miss, maybe a pair of soccer boots instead of runners would be a good start!Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 012

Pink Teddy Bear

I really enjoyed making this card as I had the cutest pink teddy bear when I was a little girl just like this.I wasn’t particularly happy with the pink marker colour I had used to colour the teddy bear stamp with, so I used some eye shadow I had to make it the right colour. (Yes… one day I’ll get  Copic markers), then I found a clear glitter with a pink shimmer to finish off the card. When I added the flower in my teddy’s ear my daughter kept wanting me to take it off because she thought it looked Hawaiian and wanted to know where her grass skirt was…cheeky daughter… anyway I said it was staying because I thought it looked cute and added a feminie touch!Aristocats April 2011 074
