Christmas Gifts Card

This Christmas Tree looks warm, cozy and festive and has a lovely Christmas feeling to it. To create the card, I used a sketch a girlfriend gave me which made it so much easier to make decisions on how to put my card together. I love Christmas morning and all the presents wrapped under the tree. My kids favourite joke present for their father is to wrap his wallet, good for a laugh!! Winter Bird Christmas Card

I used Winter Bird from The Doodle Garden for my Christmas card and created an extra few branches for my birdy to sit on using my Bird punch, which has been literally gathering dust as I haven’t used it it ages. I also used the punch poo from my snowflake border for the little stars.  I just love snow and this reminds me of all the wonderful holidays I have had at the snow. I remember that moment when for the first time I actually noticed a snowflake on my ski jacket and it looked like the snowflakes on Christmas cards I had received over the years and I realised that is how they really look…this was a more than 20years ago folks when I had lovely young eyes and could still see everything!Vincenzo's 17th November 2012 005

Christmas Card in Black,White & Red

I used Holly’s Stocking from The Digi Garden for my latest Christmas creation. Christmas is coming so fast I only hope to get as many cards made over the next few weeks to be really ready, as a card maker it’s embarrassing  to give out store bought cards. I bought this swirly Winterland  tree die at the last craft fair and it was so exciting to finally use it. On Christmas day in our house we dress up in Santa Hats even though we live in a tropical climate but determined to celebrate the occasion, this image reminded me of our family.  I added some flower soft to her hat to give it a fluffy look and Santa Stocking and a smile to Holly with my Copic Multi Liner because she is definitely thinking about what Santa is going to bring! I also added baby pearl bling as earrings!! Holly's Stocking 001

    Prom Queen

This week I am using the Prom Queen digi from  Stamp N Doodle and I used a Monochromatic colour scheme. I wanted to add texture to my layers so I used my embossing folders. I used a shaving brush to add colour to my last embossed layers and after I coloured my image with my Copics I added some more ink by masking my girl and inking with Adirondack Ink the edging again with my shaving brush. Using the shaving brush adds tiny dots of ink and the more times you hit the paper the deeper the colour gets. I also did this effect on my flower and it ended up a nice rich colour so that all colours matched for my monochromatic colour scheme. I already has these pearls in my stash which turned out great and to add something extra I  used Dimensional Magic on my heart and the word kiss and also tiny smidge to my flower to have a slight gloss to it. I only used half of my Prom Queen image to instill a sense of thinking about the moment!

    Astronaut Card

I have wanted to make a space card for ages and I’ve often seen rocket ships on boys cards and I was inspired by an article in an Australian Simply Cards to start creating. I started by carefully studying the night sky above my house and noticed that most of the stars were in a bit of a line directly above the house, I think it’s called the Milky Way so I placed my stars that I punched from some Kaisercraft designer paper in a similar line. I used a blank white cardstock card base and created my night sky using only 2 different blue inks Adirondack- Denim and Stampin Up- Tempting Turquoise I applied the inks using my Sponging block just like  I had seen Tim Holtz create a distressed background for a bookmark he made me when he was last in Australia. Then I used one of my home made green mica powder mists to help create my arty distressed night sky, that totally shimmers if you hold the card at an angle. I’m very happy with the result. Then my astronaut had to land in a rocket ship which I just hand drew straight onto some silver and red papers, and my daughter reminded me that my astronaut needed a couple of windows in his rocket ship so he could look outside, excellent point and duly noted and added! I made the flag from a bamboo skewer that I coloured with my Copics so it matched my beary cute astronaut.

This first photo is inside the card.

    Rainbow Thank You Card

I chose this image from the silhouette range of images from Bugaboo stamps because I could visualize a rainbow as the background and it’s just an amazing piece of art and it was the perfect image for a rainbow theme. When I went to pick up my Copics to start colouring a rainbow I couldn't remember what order the colours went in and had to look it up. Here is the order  for a Rainbow….Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet if you are like me and not sure of the exact order. I wanted a darker background at the top  to pop the focal point forward and really frame this rainbow and used dimensional adhesive to add even more dimension. I chose a ribbon that picked up all the colours I used in my cardstock. I used Dimensional Magic to add  a 3d effect and it really made a difference especially for my hummingbird! I used my Butterfly embossing folder so it adds another natural element both on the front and the inside of my card. I made this card for my daughters hair dresser and wig lady to thank her for everything she has done and the wonderful friendship they formed.. Altogether  my daughter has used over 50 cards to thank everybody the whole cast and crew after a great show working together in Annie the Musical from Brisbane, it’s been an experience of a lifetime! Birdcage Thank You Card

I had so much fun making this birdcage card using pastel colours and dry embossed the inside with more birdcages. I’m really enjoying the Copics to colour in with, and  it’s just so relaxing colouring in. I made this card using pastel colours which is something that I don’t do very often but I really liked it, it’s funny how your taste changes and as you experiment with different styles and colours your cards change with time. The thing I really enjoyed adding to my card were my new small paper lace corners but almost impossible to glue down, any tips?…greatly appreciated!!!  Annie the Musical Red Carpet Night April 12th 2012 078

Inside I embossed birdcages to carry through my theme.

Charlotte and Butterfly Gate Fold Card

I made this gate fold card using a beautiful gold ribbon to keep it closed. I love this sweet little girl called Charlotte and Butterfly  from Milk Coffee Stamps and I really wanted her in a red dress and to have a white collar and white socks with white lace trim, so cute!!!! I enjoyed my colour scheme of gold for our challenge this week and the gold cardstock was like a mirror I can nearly see myself taking the photo, too funny! The embossed butterflies added to the theme and added a touch of class. I watched a you tube tube tutorial to try to improve my hair colouring and swapped a few colours around and used what I had to try to create golden hair. It is my challenge to myself  this year to improve my colouring in. I really enjoyed colouring in her dress and then adding spots with my white gel pen, that was fun! On the inside, I wanted it to look like a flower so I added a flourish under the die cuts and I think it looks clever. Then I  added another butterfly so the inside and outside theme was carried through.  Annie March 2012 002

    Daisy Teapot Card

I am inspired this year to make as many construction cards as possible,so this week I made my first gatefold card. It took me ages to make this card and I fiddled with the Copic colouring, added glitter and dimensional magic to the flowers, and then layered them with dimensional adhesive. I literally killed one set of flowers beyond retrieval with the heat gun (don’t ask) but in the end all the flowers looked pretty. I seem to have an affiliation with bright colours especially pink and green and I really enjoyed the coloring in part …a lot!!!   I decorated inside and out to match, and fell in love with this teapot which even has some gorgeous polka dots on it. I cut a second bee out and layered him over the top, the larger wing I cut and pulled forward to give the effect of flight. The line of tiny words under the bee inside the card says…You’re one in a Buzzillion…Naturally this teapot says it all, friendship and a cup of tea… what more could you want!!!!Daisy Teapot January 2012 010

    Meljens Birthday Cake Mouse Card

I had a lot of fun creating this Happy Birthday card this week with my new Birthday Cake Mouse Digi from Meljens.. Hope you like how I decorated the inside of the card with balloons everywhere! The balloons flip back and forth as you wiggle the card, it’s so much fun to play with. I used a border punch to create paper lace and then embossed it so it looks even more like lace, but with a fresh and funky feel. I can’t honestly believe I actually had fluro pink cardstock and fluro green cardstock, and after digging through all my green ribbons… yes I actually had fluro green ribbon…what the …where did all that come from!!!!I used a combination of fluro gel pens for the 3 candles and icing and Copics to colour the cake and hungry mouse! I used my new flower soft and after much debate with my daughter to use white or cream we decided on cream flower soft because it looks like real cream oozing out the sides of this delicious chocolate cake.

This week I used my new Bugaboo Stamps image called Stella Nursing- Hospital Food and it really brought a smile to my face the minute I laid eyes on her, so I knew it was the perfect card to make this week for something bright and colourful to give to my sick friend. It will be great to look at…. and she will be able to  feel the love even if I’m not there with her. I added these flowers with a set of punches I forgot I had and ran a few through my embossing folder to add some depth and texture to the flowers.Card Crafter's Circle 6 January 2011 002
