Christmas Gifts Card

This Christmas Tree looks warm, cozy and festive and has a lovely Christmas feeling to it. To create the card, I used a sketch a girlfriend gave me which made it so much easier to make decisions on how to put my card together. I love Christmas morning and all the presents wrapped under the tree. My kids favourite joke present for their father is to wrap his wallet, good for a laugh!! Christmas Card

I used some patterned paper from Kaisercraft and the flowers on this paper are all velvet. and it feels so nice and especially perfect for a wintery style Christmas Card.  I wanted Candy Cane Ava from Bugaboo Stamps to look like a Christmas ornament hanging under the tree. I added a smile to Ava with my Copic Multi liner.

Immies Scarf Christmas Card

Christmas is coming and I’ve now made a start to have a few cards ready in time for Christmas! I used Immies Scarf from  The Digi Garden  and I love that cheeky smile! I used a metallic gold paper to cut my snowflakes instead of traditional white to give the card a touch of class and keep a warm cosy colour scheme going, it’s change for me as I usually love to use pink and green. I have never been a scarf wearer but my daughter’s singing teacher has insisted we invest and wear them. We have a nice collection of scarves thanks to Nanna Joan who has knitted us quite a few now, so we have lots of colours to chose from when we go out. July 2012 Sport Carnival & Cards 081

Nurse Get Well Wishes Card

For my construction card this week I made a ZIG ZAG CARD. I used this adorable Charlotte is a Nurse from Milk Coffee to make a Get Well Card as I do not seem to have any Get Well Cards in my stash, it also seemed appropriate as I myself have a cough/cold this week. It’s been pouring with rain for days where I live, so I been having a few sleep in’s as luckily it’s school holidays. I recently learnt the trick to half fussy cut and half spellbinder cut my image and I’m very pleased with the result. I used my new Molotow white paint pen which I picked up at the craft fair to add a few highlights to her shoes and dress.

Wedding Card

I do not usually make wedding cards but I decided James Bond has to get married sooner or later!!! A funny thing happened to me the other day (and no this is not a joke it actually happened) I attended a seminar and a lady sitting opposite me looked very familiar and all day I thought to myself that I knew her face. I finally remembered at the end of the day about 15 minutes before it was over… I said to her “you sang at my wedding”!!! Well I got married 20 years ago…. next Christmas. No wonder it took me so long to remember it must have been filed right at the back of my brain So with refreshed images in my mind of my own wedding this card came to mind!!!  I paper pieced the base half of her dress and ran it thru my Big Shot and stuck down near her waist and used dimensional adhesives to lift and fluff out her dress and I used  lots of glitter on her dress to add some Glitz.CARDS, SCHOOL HOLIDAYS AND DAD'S PIE RECIPE June 2012 069

Cascading Card with Sparkle

I really enjoy making construction style cards as it challenges me to use my brain a lot more than a standard card base and gives me so much satisfaction to say to myself “I did that”!  My girlfriend Vicki came over with the Destructions and we made one each and it’s hard to see in the first photo but I found some cardstock in my stash that was white one side and a coral pink on the other side, so it looks rather tricky! This adorable little angel I used is from Whoopsi Daisy Digis and I generously added some glitter which you can see in my second picture, she “Shines like the top of the Chrysler Building”!!!!!! I ended up creating a whole garden behind her with cascading leaves and flowers everywhere. Then to make sure it was extra sparkly I used a mountain of Bling and splashed it everywhere!! I can now say with conviction that leaf die was an excellent investment towards my stash, and lately has had a serious workout!!!

Rainbow Thank You Card

I chose this image from the silhouette range of images from Bugaboo stamps because I could visualize a rainbow as the background and it’s just an amazing piece of art and it was the perfect image for a rainbow theme. When I went to pick up my Copics to start colouring a rainbow I couldn't remember what order the colours went in and had to look it up. Here is the order  for a Rainbow….Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet if you are like me and not sure of the exact order. I wanted a darker background at the top  to pop the focal point forward and really frame this rainbow and used dimensional adhesive to add even more dimension. I chose a ribbon that picked up all the colours I used in my cardstock. I used Dimensional Magic to add  a 3d effect and it really made a difference especially for my hummingbird! I used my Butterfly embossing folder so it adds another natural element both on the front and the inside of my card. I made this card for my daughters hair dresser and wig lady to thank her for everything she has done and the wonderful friendship they formed.. Altogether  my daughter has used over 50 cards to thank everybody the whole cast and crew after a great show working together in Annie the Musical from Brisbane, it’s been an experience of a lifetime! Bird on a Quilted Card

I have always wanted to sew with a sewing machine and make a quilt, so with our challenge this week I made a mini quilt for my card and as I don’t have a sewing machine, it’s faux stitching for me!I punched out 16 squares and I used two matching double sided papers. I know I keep using my favorite colours green and pink but they just speak to me! I then taught my daughter how to paper pierce using a Stampin Up product, she got about half of the squares done for me and really enjoyed it until her favorite show came on TV and she dumped me like a bag of potatoes! I then used a very fine marker to make the stiches. I recently cut a few die cuts in white from my girlfriends new dies and she did the same with mine and I used these on my card, it was great to have these pre cut to fiddle with and made the perfect addition to my card!  I used my Copics to colour this cute little bird sitting in a tree called MORNING GLORY and matched these colours to my designer  papers. I added glitter glue to my ribbon bow and I am really pleased with how that makes the ribbon look so much prettier, I am so glad I took up card making!!!Annie the Musical 20th April,2012 083

Birdcage Thank You Card

I had so much fun making this birdcage card using pastel colours and dry embossed the inside with more birdcages. I’m really enjoying the Copics to colour in with, and  it’s just so relaxing colouring in. I made this card using pastel colours which is something that I don’t do very often but I really liked it, it’s funny how your taste changes and as you experiment with different styles and colours your cards change with time. The thing I really enjoyed adding to my card were my new small paper lace corners but almost impossible to glue down, any tips?…greatly appreciated!!!  Annie the Musical Red Carpet Night April 12th 2012 078

Inside I embossed birdcages to carry through my theme.
