This year I decided to embrace technology, you know cameras ,computers, anything with an instruction manual and slowly I have been working it out, and I have even bought something on eBay.That’s huge for me. My friend Vicki Fraser has been very helpful in the world of computers and a huge thanks to her for her amazing patience. I have come a long way since the beginning of the year and I’ve done my New Years Resolution justice! So far, so good.

Men's Golf Card

My husband is so sporty and Golf is one of his many loves! I really enjoyed making this card and decided to make my own background using my Provo Craft Circa 12 pts stamp where you can roll the letters around and print any word you like, I have had it for years and only used it a couple of times, mostly because i forgot I had it. I found this golf stamp at the Opportunity shop about 2 years ago and here is finally the card it was destined to be used for. I also finally used my oval punches for the sentiment which I am very pleased about, I will have to use them more often.I was inspired to make this card by the Golf Movie with Will Smith & Matt Damon in The Legend of Bagger Vance, hubby needs a golf angel.  I used dimensional magic on the club handle and golf balls to add some dimension. I coloured the edges of the stamp to look tartan as with a last name like Munro I  know there is some Scottish blood in there somewhere.

Spesch Birthday Card using Paper Piecing

I have to say I am feeling very special as my girlfriend Vicki Fraser arrived with a card ready to make and like twins we made one each only differing with our coloring in and ribbons and buttons. We used her new Spesch Designer Stamp and she is so very cute, and cut around her so she popped off the background paper. Vicki had already sorted out two paper piecing- firstly the dress and then the balloons and pre cut them both ,how lucky am I! I used my Whispers Strokes Marker to colour her hair, eyes and dress trim and my favorite markers ever are my Copic  Markers E11 & E00 which I used for the face/skin tones.Copic markers are so on my Santa Wish List!Vicki got these lovely rounded bling as a gift with purchase from the Craft Queen, they are so classy.I used some glitter to accentuate her pretty bow in her hair. Vicki cut the grass using her border punch that had a kind of soft wavy line then going back thru the punch off center this time and not lining it up makes grass, too easy! I had a heap of fun making this card!

Handmade Flower Card with Martha Stewart Punch by Anita Munro

Please Subscribe to my YouTube Channel Trish and Treasure

My Darling Daughter Anita who is only 10yrs old premade the Flower using all pink flowers but in different sizes, and when she liked what she had made she glued each layer together and added a butterfly bling embellishment to add a bit of her own personal flair. Anita placed a adhesive dimensional under the flower so it would pop off the card for added interest! She used a piece of pink paper and used the Martha Stewart Scroll Heart Deep Edger Border Punch down both sides to create a Lace Trim which she fixed to the card carefully with Glue. Anita added a sentiment using the Stampin Up Modern Label Punch and Stampin Up Word Window Punch and stamped using Colorbox Chalk ink her sentiment from Stampin Up Stamp Set called Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Anita made this card for her school teacher for her Birthday and I was surprised to see that she had pre written on a notepad what she was going to write inside, which is very cute and thoughtful.

I will enter this card in the following challenges on her behalf:

Spellbinder Nestabilities Peony Handmade Flower & Recycling Plastic Bag Tutorial

I received the wonderful gift of socks for a gift and kept the plastic bag with zip to recycle. I made the flower using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Peony using 3 coloured papers, for assembly see my Make a Flower Video on my Trish and Treasure YouTube Channel. I  die cut two Stampin Up Sizzix Bigz Top Note out: one in polka dot paper, and the other in white. I used the white one on the inside to hide out the sock packaging details and I used Tim Holtz Alterations Carnivale lettering die, using up scraps left over from my polka dot paper for the lettering inside for ANITA. I made this for my darling daughter! I have also made a YouTube Tutorial so you can see how easy it was to make!cardmaking vids 006

Build a Flower Card by Anita Munro

My darling daughter who is only 10 years old made this wonderful Birthday card for a friend of mine. I think she did an amazing job! It worked out great because Anita made the card while we had a sleep in, and all we had to do was sign the card, brilliant! She’s such a good girl!!! You can see she has gone through my flower drawer and layered up different size flowers to build an amazing flower for this card and you can tell her favourite colour is pink.

It’s such a great project I am going to enter it into the following challenges on her behalf. If she keeps this up I will have to get Anita her own blog.

Darling Daughter

Hi, Just a quick post to let you know I’m still here but super busy with my family. Darling daughter who is 10… I sent her resume away for Mary Poppins a major production to be held in Brisbane,Australia and she made it to the interview but didn’t get through to the final round, which was a great experience for her very first professional job  interview. (Two of her friends are on the final list!)  She is currently preparing for an audition for a television show that specialises in kids singing and dancing which will be another great experience and I hope if nothing else she gets to sing at a stage venue (Brisbane Entertainment Centre) where people like Kylie Minogue & Dolly Parton sing and have a great memory of a day out with her Mum. I will feel I’ve done my best if I let her follow her dream in the world of music, if I help her by just getting her to every opportunity and the rest is up to her… needless to say its a lot of driving and heaps of waiting around and I’ve read a lot of great books lately. The best part about it all is we both get to spend a lot of time with like-minded families. I know for sure she loves it all because she sleeps with her tap shoes on the end of her bed and we all know when she’s up in the morning…singing and dancing. She even dances up and down the supermarket isles which can be very embarrassing but there is no off button.. trust me I’ve checked! On the weekend she competed in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod -Vocal solos and got a 1st, 2nd & 3rd -even with a high temp/virus. I’m off to card class tomorrow (my monthly stamping group) so I will have something to blog soon.

Stage Mum with L plates (We’ve both got a lot to learn!)..any tips gratefully accepted!

Baby Dress Card

My girlfriend Vicki Fraser and I decided to make a dress card. We didn’t have a pattern, just an idea. I made this using obviously very thin cardstock because when I tried to make another in a different colour I would have had to use my Spellbinders circles, but with this card I used my punches for the neckline and produced this gorgeous one layer card and I think it is just adorable. I put some dimensional magic on the collar to give it some depth and by using two embossing folders gave it contrast and interest. Sweet and simple and I’m very happy with the result.

With Sympathy

When I made this card I really wanted to have a cross on the front. A template would have been an excellent help but I just hand drew it and cut it out as I was keen to keep going to get the result I had imagined and visualised in my head. I love the metal brad I used with the flower it really anchored the card design. An extra layer of darker ribbon subtly popped the soft lace detail trim at the bottom edge of the card. I made my own Shabby Chic designer paper  which I distressed and have included a detail description so you can also have a go. I inked all the edges in Denim Adirondack Ink with a Stamp It Sponging Block to complete my distressed look.

Cards August 2011 005

Shabby Chic Designer Paper Technique

  • I chose some designer paper and clear embossed (wet) some swirls and curls, always use your anti-static bag over your paper before embossing.
  • Then brushed over some white gesso paint when almost dry, removed paint off embossed area. Then waited for all this to dry.
  • Protect your ironing board with a heat proof sheet like the Tim Holtz one. When paint is finally dry, place a sheet(or a few) of brown paper (not newspaper) over your designer paper and iron off the clear embossing until it vanishes, absorbed into a few layers of the brown paper. Best to use a sheet of baking paper as the top layer before you begin to iron as this will protect your iron base from any potential mess.
  • It leaves this amazing effect as you can see by my close up.

Shabby Chic Tag

One of the Mum’s at my daughter’s Dance Studio is an ex-police officer and now teaches Child Safety & Protection at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia. She is someone who makes a huge difference  in this world we live in and I admire her because she has devoted her life and career to protecting children and teaching others to be like herself. I was inspired to make her something and I decided a bookmark for her text books at work would be perfect!

The unusual wet embossing technique I used to make the designer paper shabby chic I will put the instructions in my next post!

Darling Daughter has had a busy few days and competed in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.

The school choir routine of a melody of 3 songs was cute and all the kids dressed up like orphans, they didn’t win this year but just being in choir really improves my daughters quality of voice and she seems to sound crisper, not to mention has learnt so much.

Then she competed in her group dance routines. Under 10’s in 4 sections and she won 1st place in all 4 sections.I am so proud of her and all the effort she has put into her dancing this year, she has a work ethic to be envied. I am now thanks to you tube an expert hair dresser & make-up artist. I’ve also now perfected the art of applying False Eyelashes of which I am so proud of myself.

Yesterday at my daughters Year 5 Church service all the Year 5 kids did a play and sang. I looked everywhere but darling daughter wasn’t an actor or singer ….what the …..Anyway I spot her she is down at the back of the church coaching the year 5 choir on stage with all the actions and expressions for the kids on the stage.. I was great to see her Year 5 teacher use her talents in such an unusual way.

After church we headed out to watch hubby coach and my gorgeous son who is 15 play in the Under 19’s Youth Soccer game. I took 100’s photos and really enjoyed watching them both in action . I really enjoyed my weekend!

Hair Bow

I really enjoyed making this bow for my daughters hair and I finally got the chance to share this after she has already worn this in 20 shows. The wardrobe assistant asked me to sew this onto a comb as it was the perfect green to match one of her costumes. I thought I could just see myself making a mess of that, so I bought a glue gun and used lashings of glue along the top edge of a hair comb and the pre tied bow stuck like a dream to the hair comb. The glue line is completely concealed once in her hair. There is nothing like having to do something that pushes you outside your normal boundaries and I now feel I could certainly expand on this idea, time permitting! The best part about the bow is my daughter loves it, and she can put it in her hair on her own.
I’m entering this bow in a challenge at Reasonable Ribbon http://reasonableribbon.blogspot.com/2011/08/challenge-29-sizzlin-summer-theme.htmlAugust 1st 2011 Bow 017
