Christmas Fireplace Card

I love sitting by a nice cozy fireplace in winter and naturally that’s never going to happen on Christmas morning in Australia but hey…I can dream of a white Christmas!!! Here I am with a Christmas card ready in July, there lies a miracle. In fact this is the second Christmas card I made this week, I am on a roll! This year I am trying… and it’s not in my nature, but try I will to get as organised as possible this year. I’m so delighted with this card as I used my new Memory Box Die that I got at the Craft Show and it really adds a pretty dimension. This digi is called Christmas Hearth and it’s from Happileigh Scrappin' and when I saw the cat on the mat I knew it was for me!!! This cat reminds me of my daughters singing teachers cat, and when I’m lucky it gives me some attention and sits on my lap while I pretend to read, but really I just sit on the couch and listen to my daughter sing!

Prom Queen

This week I am using the Prom Queen digi from  Stamp N Doodle and I used a Monochromatic colour scheme. I wanted to add texture to my layers so I used my embossing folders. I used a shaving brush to add colour to my last embossed layers and after I coloured my image with my Copics I added some more ink by masking my girl and inking with Adirondack Ink the edging again with my shaving brush. Using the shaving brush adds tiny dots of ink and the more times you hit the paper the deeper the colour gets. I also did this effect on my flower and it ended up a nice rich colour so that all colours matched for my monochromatic colour scheme. I already has these pearls in my stash which turned out great and to add something extra I  used Dimensional Magic on my heart and the word kiss and also tiny smidge to my flower to have a slight gloss to it. I only used half of my Prom Queen image to instill a sense of thinking about the moment!

Charlotte and Butterfly Gate Fold Card

I made this gate fold card using a beautiful gold ribbon to keep it closed. I love this sweet little girl called Charlotte and Butterfly  from Milk Coffee Stamps and I really wanted her in a red dress and to have a white collar and white socks with white lace trim, so cute!!!! I enjoyed my colour scheme of gold for our challenge this week and the gold cardstock was like a mirror I can nearly see myself taking the photo, too funny! The embossed butterflies added to the theme and added a touch of class. I watched a you tube tube tutorial to try to improve my hair colouring and swapped a few colours around and used what I had to try to create golden hair. It is my challenge to myself  this year to improve my colouring in. I really enjoyed colouring in her dress and then adding spots with my white gel pen, that was fun! On the inside, I wanted it to look like a flower so I added a flourish under the die cuts and I think it looks clever. Then I  added another butterfly so the inside and outside theme was carried through.  Annie March 2012 002

Men's Golf Card

My husband is so sporty and Golf is one of his many loves! I really enjoyed making this card and decided to make my own background using my Provo Craft Circa 12 pts stamp where you can roll the letters around and print any word you like, I have had it for years and only used it a couple of times, mostly because i forgot I had it. I found this golf stamp at the Opportunity shop about 2 years ago and here is finally the card it was destined to be used for. I also finally used my oval punches for the sentiment which I am very pleased about, I will have to use them more often.I was inspired to make this card by the Golf Movie with Will Smith & Matt Damon in The Legend of Bagger Vance, hubby needs a golf angel.  I used dimensional magic on the club handle and golf balls to add some dimension. I coloured the edges of the stamp to look tartan as with a last name like Munro I  know there is some Scottish blood in there somewhere.

Baby Dress Card

My girlfriend Vicki Fraser and I decided to make a dress card. We didn’t have a pattern, just an idea. I made this using obviously very thin cardstock because when I tried to make another in a different colour I would have had to use my Spellbinders circles, but with this card I used my punches for the neckline and produced this gorgeous one layer card and I think it is just adorable. I put some dimensional magic on the collar to give it some depth and by using two embossing folders gave it contrast and interest. Sweet and simple and I’m very happy with the result.
