Best Friends

We celebrated my girlfriend Roz’s 39th Birthday and I made this card for her. It’s so nice to have young friends! Roz,Vicki Fraser and I  went to The Elephant Rock Cafe at Currumbin which is right on the beach front and has an amazing view to celebrate with a lovely lunch. I wanted to try something new with my Stampin Up 2 Step Bird Punch and I used the cardboard that I had punched out the leaves as a stencil template to create my background paper for my cute little birdie. You can see I also used the bird’s wing as a leaf with my flowers. I used my own homemade mist to add some pink sparkle. I love paper piercing, it is so relaxing so added that as well and to lift my pink background used a yellowy gold background to lift it and put it all on a gold card and voila!

My friend Roz recently took a family trip to Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo so I cut out a sachet full of mini Australia’s using my Big Shot and my QuicKutz Australia Die in dark green cardstock and popped them inside this cute little heart sachet so she can scrapbook all her photos as I knew she was planning her Australia Zoo pages. I used the template from Papermaia to make this gift sachet then embossed it. Roz loved that I remembered her zoo ideas and was really excited to see all her little Australia's inside the sachet!

Nintendo DS Carry Case

I made this personalised Nintendo DS carry case to store my daughter Anita’s DS, recharger and games. I converted a small metal  case and naturally she totally just loves it! To make the games folder I used this clear plastic pocket sheet that usually I use to hold my ATC’s. I purchased this at EB Games in Australia but you can buy them usually as a baseball or trading card holder .By adding some Velcro dots the DS games don’t fall out and as all you Mum’s out there know these games set you back a small fortune and are so small and easy to loose.This has worked out to be an excellent storage solution by being both compact and easy to see at a glance if a game is missing!

I really enjoyed making this project for my daughter and even though it took longer than I expected it is an amazing result and really cute, bright and happy addition to our home and has the added bonus for Anita & I being a little more organised !

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas in July!. If you know me nothing makes me happier than real snow, especially to ski on. This is the first shaker card I ever made and it’s filled with fake snow. I started out stamping having private lessons with Louise Magetti on the Gold Coast before I was ready to join a group and know what all the  other girls were talking about. We made this card with great delight and it was also the first time I’d ever used dimensionals. This is also the first stamp set I ever bought. I had no idea how much there was to know and still I’m learning new stuff all the time.


I’m dreaming of a White Christmas! Well one day anyway.

Lion King Happy Birthday

I’ve had a winter flu and my kids have been on school holidays(3weeks) and normally that would mean a break but I have a performing arts daughter who auditioned and got a few parts in Jack & the Beanstalk Pantomime at Spotlight Theatre on the Gold Coast,Australia.She played the hen that lays the golden egg and Milky White the Cow(who Jack sells for a handful of beans….. I’m sure she’s worth way more than that!)  and a mean and creepy mini monster who belongs to the Giant, a cute villager and a special appearance as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (sings her solo) who gets lost and ends up in the wrong Pantomime. So she’s only 10 yrs. old  and it was hair, make up and go go go(8 costume changes per show). She gave a professional performance next to some very well know TV and Theatre celebrities and had a fantastic learning opportunity to fine tune her craft and learn from the greats in the industry and after 20 performances we are both exhausted …..so life in our household has been so full on.

I’ve also just added the adorable  kissing bear at the top of my blog please take as many kisses as you need!

Back into card making which I love and I used this Party Animal paper by Kaisercraft which is so much fun to use.I wanted to emboss the striped paper for added affect and I’m so happy with the result, it really ties the project together.

Crimper Day with Jane Norrish

My friend Roz had a Stampin Up Party on Sunday and these are the cards we made with our wonderful Stampin Up demonstrator Jane Norrish  using the Crimper, and we really were dying to try the cupcake punch and matching stamp set. We also tried for the first time the stamps on wheels. Jane showed us the builder wheels, I love trying new things. Now I have an even bigger wish list of stuff I REALLY NEED.

We crimped the bottom half of the envelope after we stamped with the Stampin Up builder wheels and the top then fitted nicely over the bottom crimped section. Jane said I really need to practise my bows , which I will get to and she said the secret is to trim the ribbon in the same direction and it does look so much better. Live and learn. This is the insert that goes inside. Isn't it a great design for a card.

This is the back view,I love these silky smooth Stampin Up envelopes they are so lovely to work with.

Grassy Head

This Grassy Head was a gift to my son from Linda, who is such a wonderful teacher at his school. She bought it at the local Art Markets because he is such a hard worker at school and always tries his hardest in all that he does.It sat in the gift bag until the end of the Xmas school holidays and the instructions said place in a glass of water and regularly keep topped up with water. This activated the grass seeds and voila, he had hair! He is such a cute character that lives on my kitchen sink catching a few rays of sun and I also snapped a few photos on the back verandah. Very arty,unique and unusual gift!

Penguin Party Time

I’ve been dying to try some new stuff out lately, and my purchase of this gorgeous string inspired me to try it out with some balloons. Ask my friend Vicki Fraser she will tell you how embarrassing I am at the shopping centre when it comes to balloons, I just love them! I couldn’t resist this handsome penguin gentleman who no doubt has happy feet and can trip the light fantastic. Yes, I’m ready to party. I have a thing for bright colours and know the young recipient of this card will love it as much as I do.

Cheeky Smiles For Your Birthday

 

I’d been dying to try to make a banner and incorporated that into this card using this gorgeous string. The string reminds me of my teenage year's where I perfected a few tricks with my yo-yo. I feel in love with this range of papers by Kaisercraft, so stay tuned. I’ve been cutting out the animals ready to make some more cards, using my waiting for my daughter at rehearsals time effectively.

Stampin Up–Make and Take

On the weekend I went to the Australasian Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo in Brisbane,Australia with my friend’s Vicki and Roz. I did a make and take at the Stampin Up stand run by Chrissie Allen, Jenn Duncan, Sherri Freese, Sue Janke, Megan Kinsey and Susan Hurley-Luke. I really enjoyed this make and take and tried the Stampin Up scissors and they were surprisingly brilliant and so easy to work with, now I have some thing else to add to my wish list. I love the Strength & Hope stamp set they used. If you buy a set from one of the girls  before 31st July they will donate $2 from the sale to The Breast Cancer research Foundation. The girls had the most amazing cards and scrapbooking pages on display, I wanted to make them all! Very inspiring!

SURFERS PARADISE

 

To get the golden sun ray’s I used my Stampin Up Bird Punch. I got the inspiration for this card from where I live which is very close to Surfers Paradise a famous beach here on the Gold Coast,Australia. I got the sandy paper in the pet isle at the supermarket, apparently it’s for birds cages, and it was perfect for this project. I used the glitter to simulate the ocean spray of the glistening water.

Handbag Card

This gorgeous handbag card was  made using a handbag template. I used dimensionals to lift the handbag which gives a nice effect with the embossed card underneath.(Tip: Place the dimensionals so that you can place a gift card or cash in the bag). The ribbon was from a $2 importer style shop and already has the beading attached and stuck under the coloured paper panel on the top of the bag gives a great trendy styling to the bag.

Happy Fathers Day Card

I enjoyed making this Tiger Card as it oozes masculinity, which really suits my hubby and will be the perfect Fathers Day Card for him.

I added the textured card at the bottom to accentuate the mirrored effect of the water in my stamped image, and it was nice to add some natural coloured texture to try to man this card up a bit! I added a purple highlight to offset the grey colouring, for the cool colours that are under the Tiger’s neck . I started colouring this last year at my daughter’s  play rehearsal for the same theatre company as this year and finished it finally the other night, only one year later and another play later. It was a marathon to colour and took a lot longer than I thought. I don’t mind waiting for her at all and it gives me a bit more time to do my crafting, unfortunately there is only 2 more weeks of rehearsals for Jack & the Beanstalk a Pantomime ( she’s the back half of a cow, a villager, the hen that lays the golden egg, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz(singing Were off to see the the Wizard solo) & a scary monster monster. That’s a lot of costume changes for one play.This is her 4th play for the year. Her 3rd Play this year has performances next week. She is small Alice in Alice in Wonderland a Disney play,so it’s go go go around here. Hair,Make up, Action!
