Queensland Modern Art Gallery- Kids Exhibition Magicland

I took my daughter to see the latest kids exhibition at the Brisbane Modern Art Gallery (Australia), we ended up going twice, it was that good! So we have heaps of photos to share with you, it was an area as big as two or three tennis courts to give you an idea of the size of this exhibition. This was such a wonderful place to visit, in fact I had been to this gallery at least 5 times previously and on our last visit a lady security guard overheard us talking in the ladies toilet.We were thrilled about the place where you wash your hands, as overhead there must have been some motion sensor projector and these life size hands appeared and washed their hands …where we were washing our hands and she overheard how we were saying “ it was so fantastic and we thought it was the best part of the whole gallery” and she chimed into the conversation and asked if we thought it was better that the kids section of the gallery and we said.. what was she talking about, what kids section???? Well after escorting us thru a series of hallways I assumed were offices or private areas we found this huge area full of kids hands on activities. I will show you in another post our first visit to the kids section.

Snow Queen Castle Card

Making an all white card was certainly a challenge for me. I had to get out of my comfort zone and start trying new stuff and thinking about things in a new way. I am so pleased my snow queen…. got her castle. I used the Cricut to cut out the castle which looks a lot like the Princess Castle cake I made my daughter .

Acetate Flower Bookmark

I decided to make a quick bookmark as a back up gift, as my drawer of giveaways empties as fast as I make them.I used Stazon Black Ink to stamp the flower on acetate and then hand cut to add an extra and unusual layer to my flower.It’s great to be able to give a handmade gift!

Daisy Teapot Card

I am inspired this year to make as many construction cards as possible,so this week I made my first gatefold card. It took me ages to make this card and I fiddled with the Copic colouring, added glitter and dimensional magic to the flowers, and then layered them with dimensional adhesive. I literally killed one set of flowers beyond retrieval with the heat gun (don’t ask) but in the end all the flowers looked pretty. I seem to have an affiliation with bright colours especially pink and green and I really enjoyed the coloring in part …a lot!!!   I decorated inside and out to match, and fell in love with this teapot which even has some gorgeous polka dots on it. I cut a second bee out and layered him over the top, the larger wing I cut and pulled forward to give the effect of flight. The line of tiny words under the bee inside the card says…You’re one in a Buzzillion…Naturally this teapot says it all, friendship and a cup of tea… what more could you want!!!!

Pink Gem Designs Fairy Teddy Card with Chocolate

We all love chocolate. so what better birthday card than one filled with chocolate!!!!!!! You could also fill it with something like Jewellery– a charm bracelet, earrings… really whatever takes your fancy. I made this using one piece of A4 cardboard. I also tried out cutting vinyl stars in my Cricut  using the Plantin School Book Cartridge and a teal colour vinyl and they turned out brilliantly.I used these stars over the acetate window, and you can see they are shiny and add an extra element to the card. I used my Copic Sketch markers to colour in my Fairy Teddy and used my Copic  Blender pen to create the dots on her wings and dress to tie my polka dot theme together. I floated the stars across the sky above her head to create that magical  floating on air  concept for my fairy teddy. I used 3 colours with the glitter to get just the right look for this sparkly card.

Flower Bookmark

My friend Vicki Fraser and I made bookmarks together at her place and we each had our own style. We both started with the same colour base card. I riffled through her stash and found a Kaisercraft designer paper pad she used ages ago on a card, which I absolutely adored and couldn’t wait to get started. I used Vicki’s Tattered Florals Flower Die and her Martha Stewart punch and found some really thin string to finish off with a small not too overpowering bow! I really need a bookmark for myself,… every time I make one it ends up as a gift!

I decided to grab a book from the bookshelf to photograph my bookmark and decided to show you a Australian House and Garden  magazine. My husband Mark Munro used to custom build furniture, kitchens, shop fittings and shutters. Here is some of Mark’s work, our business used to be called Munro Originals . Mark built the table, chairs and in the Bedrooms you can just see the shutters. The owner of this house is an artist.

After working for the client he was inspired to paint this for our Lounge Room and it was not long after we had visited Santa Fe,New Mexico,USA and it’s a wonderful reminder of our pre children holiday!!! We spent our time in Santa Fe exploring all the Interior Decorators and Custom Furniture manufacturers in the area and they were happy to show us everything they did which was fantastic. We stayed at La Fonda which was an amazing experience. I love Adobe style housing.

Meljens Birthday Cake Mouse Card

I had a lot of fun creating this Happy Birthday card this week with my new Birthday Cake Mouse Digi from Meljens.. Hope you like how I decorated the inside of the card with balloons everywhere! The balloons flip back and forth as you wiggle the card, it’s so much fun to play with. I used a border punch to create paper lace and then embossed it so it looks even more like lace, but with a fresh and funky feel. I can’t honestly believe I actually had fluro pink cardstock and fluro green cardstock, and after digging through all my green ribbons… yes I actually had fluro green ribbon…what the …where did all that come from!!!!I used a combination of fluro gel pens for the 3 candles and icing and Copics to colour the cake and hungry mouse! I used my new flower soft and after much debate with my daughter to use white or cream we decided on cream flower soft because it looks like real cream oozing out the sides of this delicious chocolate cake.

Bugaboo Stamps Stella Nursing Hospital Food Get Well Card

This week I used my new Bugaboo Stamps image called Stella Nursing- Hospital Food and it really brought a smile to my face the minute I laid eyes on her, so I knew it was the perfect card to make this week for something bright and colourful to give to my sick friend. It will be great to look at…. and she will be able to  feel the love even if I’m not there with her. I added these flowers with a set of punches I forgot I had and ran a few through my embossing folder to add some depth and texture to the flowers.

Linda and I both had a heart attack when it didn’t arrive within a month and then nearly 3 months to the date from when Linda sent it from Canada….it finally arrived a few days before Christmas in Australia….. so was the best present ever!!! Daisy Doodles Ryan the Footballer/Soccer Birthday Card

This is my third card for Card Crafter’s Circle Design Team and I made this card for my son’s birthday which isn’t until November, but this is much better than making one at the last minute….. like I usually do!These are his club colours and I laid out his shirt and used my Copic Multi liner .3 to add some extra lines in to his shirt and a background. I haven’t got a colour printer yet or I would have used the grass that comes with this Digi called Ryan the Footballer. I used the digi paper with all the soccer words on the background using Yellow Cardstock in my printer and I’m so happy with this card and of course used my Copics to colour him in. I also added orange boots, these are my son’s favorite boots and added a Nike tick on side of boots because he won’t wear any thing except Nike boots for his Soccer. I love the Justin B haircut, my son loves to flick his hair..just like the digi. Soccer should be my middle name too because all conversations in this house revert to Soccer, as I have not one but two Soccer Tragic’s in our house!! I just hope I can find this card when it’s his birthday!

Gingerbread Christmas House

I wanted to make a Gingerbread house since last year when I saw a huge array of Gingerbread house designs at a French Bakery, for the first time.This Christmas my daughter Anita and I knew the timing was right and we spent the morning making our first Gingerbread Christmas House, after we opened our presents! Anita and I had a lot of fun making this together.

Icing Mixture:

• 1 Egg White
• Small amount white vinegar or lemon juice
• 250g Icing Sugar (sifted)
