Margarita

I made this card for my sister Margaret who is having her 60th Birthday. I wanted to create something she would like and as she has always enjoyed parties, I felt she would love this image of a Margarita that I picked out at Oak Pond Creations. It’s also a play on her name, so I split the name so she gets the fun side of what I have created and she can clearly see what she is affectionately known as - Marg. I used my Provo Craft Circa 12pts stamp to create the word ..MARGARITA, it's one of the first stamps I ever bought and hardly use ..we all have a few things we buy with good intentions and then forget we own them. I'm on a mission to resort my craft area...so I can find things better and put the stuff I use all the time at the front. I'm one of those messy arty types, and even I can't believe how much stuff I need out to make just one card. All tips or links greatly appreciated!July 2012 Sport Carnival & Cards 084

Bath Time for Kids

Bathtime is one of my favourite childhood memories and I remember being dried and dressed in front of the heater in winter, that is until all of a sudden… I was too old for that! I used a Dearie Dolls digi called Bath Time . I had fun using some new dies I purchased at the last Craft Fair in Brisbane. I added the waves because when kids and baths get together it always spells… tidal wave…so I added the waves to simulate that for a bit of fun. I also added wiggly eyes to the top of the towel…my kids loved these types of towels!!! Actually one of my kids is a bit old for all that now, he’s 16 and has his Learners Permit to driv and over 6ft tall …. but making this card was like making a memory and I had fun in the process! I made my own flowers so it colour matched exactly to my card. I just bought my first bit of Kraft cardstock and I’m loving it…why didn’t I get more! It’s hard to see but I tucked a tiny bit of lace on the left hand side under the striped paper and this reminds me of my Mum’s bathroom… where she did that folk art about 20 ago and everything had a bit of lace added to it!!!I distressed the edges of my layers to create that fluffy towel feeling.

Christmas Fireplace Card

I love sitting by a nice cozy fireplace in winter and naturally that’s never going to happen on Christmas morning in Australia but hey…I can dream of a white Christmas!!! Here I am with a Christmas card ready in July, there lies a miracle. In fact this is the second Christmas card I made this week, I am on a roll! This year I am trying… and it’s not in my nature, but try I will to get as organised as possible this year. I’m so delighted with this card as I used my new Memory Box Die that I got at the Craft Show and it really adds a pretty dimension. This digi is called Christmas Hearth and it’s from Happileigh Scrappin' and when I saw the cat on the mat I knew it was for me!!! This cat reminds me of my daughters singing teachers cat, and when I’m lucky it gives me some attention and sits on my lap while I pretend to read, but really I just sit on the couch and listen to my daughter sing!

Christmas Smoochie Bears

I used this Christmas Smoochie Bears Stamp by Stamp Art Design for my Christmas in July card. I have been dying to use my white  flower soft on a Christmas card and this was the  perfect product to add to the hats to make them look soft and fluffy. I also used my new Memory Box die to give my card some pretty snowflakes and finished off with ribbon with dots. I love this polka dot paper, the dots feel like velvet and add to that warm fuzzy feeling with this card. I’m putting this card aside to give hubby for Christmas as we got married just a few days before Christmas and hopefully he will think this is cute! I paper pieced the jackets and gloves and if you look closely it has faint Christmas running writing through the red designer paper. First I printed onto this image onto White Cardstock and did my colouring in with my Copics and then I decided what paper to use to paper piece with. Xmas card july 2012 001
For the paper piecing I printed off a sheet of my images using copy paper and then stuck  my designer paper down with double sided tape using a 6 x 6 sheet and ran it through my printer again. I did this so I didn’t have any wastage with my designer paper and positioned it exactly so I could use this for another card at a later time and now I have a spare set to fussy cut out when I’m waiting for my daughter at her next singing lesson!

Stella on Summer Holiday 5 o’clock

This stamp reminded me straight away of my mother in law who will be 83 soon and I know she will show the whole neighborhood this card, and they will all totally love the humor!!! As soon as I saw this image at Bugaboo Stamps I knew it would get a laugh and I love how this image comes with it’s own perfect sentiment!! To add a tropical feel I used a cocktail umbrella and added some bright flowers. I used yellow as my 5% accent colour to go with the blue sky & ocean and used it on the frame of my image and added flowers that I have had in my stash for at least 5 years and finally used them.I actually have a whole drawer of flowers, and as I am a hoarder have amassed a fair few over the years and it’s time to start using them up!!! I really love this sand paper to literally bring the beach to my easel card, there is nothing like the feel of sand beneath your feet..it really makes you feel like you are on holidays!!
