Nurse Get Well Wishes Card

For my construction card this week I made a ZIG ZAG CARD. I used this adorable Charlotte is a Nurse from Milk Coffee to make a Get Well Card as I do not seem to have any Get Well Cards in my stash, it also seemed appropriate as I myself have a cough/cold this week. It’s been pouring with rain for days where I live, so I been having a few sleep in’s as luckily it’s school holidays. I recently learnt the trick to half fussy cut and half spellbinder cut my image and I’m very pleased with the result. I used my new Molotow white paint pen which I picked up at the craft fair to add a few highlights to her shoes and dress.

Wedding Card

I do not usually make wedding cards but I decided James Bond has to get married sooner or later!!! A funny thing happened to me the other day (and no this is not a joke it actually happened) I attended a seminar and a lady sitting opposite me looked very familiar and all day I thought to myself that I knew her face. I finally remembered at the end of the day about 15 minutes before it was over… I said to her “you sang at my wedding”!!! Well I got married 20 years ago…. next Christmas. No wonder it took me so long to remember it must have been filed right at the back of my brain So with refreshed images in my mind of my own wedding this card came to mind!!!  I paper pieced the base half of her dress and ran it thru my Big Shot and stuck down near her waist and used dimensional adhesives to lift and fluff out her dress and I used  lots of glitter on her dress to add some Glitz.CARDS, SCHOOL HOLIDAYS AND DAD'S PIE RECIPE June 2012 069

Bear Go Wild

As soon as I saw this Bear which is part of the Baby Zoo Animals set at KPM Doodles I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I was thinking… blue skies and a lovely big leafy tree and lush thick grass and my bear would be at home, so to speak! I used my Cricut to cut the tree, grass, clouds and sentiment. I purchased some Adhesive Springs from a stand at craft fair called Close to my Heart which apparently is a big stamping company in USA. I used this fabulous gadget to bobble my bears head and he literally does GO WILD! My girlfriend Vicki suggested the wobbly eyes to match his wobbly head when I was chatting with her on the phone this morning and voilĂ ! I used my Copic marker to colour in the Spring component so it matched his head(see up close photo). What was I thinking only buying one packet…dear Santa please add some more of  these to my Christmas Stocking!!! I can’t stop playing with this card it’s so much fun wobbling!!!

Meeting Tim Holtz

Yesterday it was the Queens Birthday Public Holiday here in Australia and to celebrate my girlfriend Vicki Fraser and I went to Brisbane Scrapbook Papercraft Convention and left hubby home with the kids. The special guest at the Stamp It Stand was Tim Holtz, so naturally I went along to meet the legend!!! This is the second time he has come to Australia and I was lucky enough to have a photo with him then as well and have my book autographed!! You learn so much watching him!!!

Vicki and I had a ball popping in to each and every stand, exploring and fossicking. First in at the start of the day and last out the door at the end, yes… die hard shoppers!!! I focused on adding a few dies to my collection and we found products we had never seen before. It was such a fun day out and we bumped into heaps of people we knew, which made the day even better!!

Prom Queen

This week I am using the Prom Queen digi from  Stamp N Doodle and I used a Monochromatic colour scheme. I wanted to add texture to my layers so I used my embossing folders. I used a shaving brush to add colour to my last embossed layers and after I coloured my image with my Copics I added some more ink by masking my girl and inking with Adirondack Ink the edging again with my shaving brush. Using the shaving brush adds tiny dots of ink and the more times you hit the paper the deeper the colour gets. I also did this effect on my flower and it ended up a nice rich colour so that all colours matched for my monochromatic colour scheme. I already has these pearls in my stash which turned out great and to add something extra I  used Dimensional Magic on my heart and the word kiss and also tiny smidge to my flower to have a slight gloss to it. I only used half of my Prom Queen image to instill a sense of thinking about the moment!

Astronaut Card

I have wanted to make a space card for ages and I’ve often seen rocket ships on boys cards and I was inspired by an article in an Australian Simply Cards to start creating. I started by carefully studying the night sky above my house and noticed that most of the stars were in a bit of a line directly above the house, I think it’s called the Milky Way so I placed my stars that I punched from some Kaisercraft designer paper in a similar line. I used a blank white cardstock card base and created my night sky using only 2 different blue inks Adirondack- Denim and Stampin Up- Tempting Turquoise I applied the inks using my Sponging block just like  I had seen Tim Holtz create a distressed background for a bookmark he made me when he was last in Australia. Then I used one of my home made green mica powder mists to help create my arty distressed night sky, that totally shimmers if you hold the card at an angle. I’m very happy with the result. Then my astronaut had to land in a rocket ship which I just hand drew straight onto some silver and red papers, and my daughter reminded me that my astronaut needed a couple of windows in his rocket ship so he could look outside, excellent point and duly noted and added! I made the flag from a bamboo skewer that I coloured with my Copics so it matched my beary cute astronaut.

This first photo is inside the card.
